The aim of this program is to train academic staff in the field of tourism management. This program aims to train individuals who specialize in the field of tourism management and want to enrich themselves in the labor intensive sector and contribute to the tourism literature. It is known that qualified academics are required in the field of tourism and hospitality and the program is designed and enriched to fill this gap. The objective of this program is to present the theoretical and practical methods related to tourism and management with a holistic approach and to create an educational network based on cooperation between the academic world and tourism sector. Students will gain knowledge about how international tourism knowledge and skills can be applied within the framework of ethical rules.
Students undertake a total of seven Ph.D. courses in order to graduate from the Tourism Management Doctorate program. When students enroll, they may register up to four courses per semester in the thesis program. Two of the seven courses in the program are compulsory, where the rest of the courses are elective. Students register to the program with the assistance of their course advisors who also guide students throughout the program. The library and the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research provide online and offline access to databases for students. Program advisors appoint a thesis supervisor when students enroll to the thesis/project. Students utilize a variety of databases to complete their thesis or project. They are encouraged produce high-quality work to contribute to the literature of tourism and hospitality. Graduates are expected to produce at least one publication indexed in SSCI. Cyprus International University, School of Tourism and Hotel Management is accredited by the German accreditation body of FIBAA.
The Ph.D. in Tourism Management is a program where students wish to specialize in the field of tourism and hotel management. The aim of this program is to present the theoretical and practical methods related to tourism and management with a holistic approach and to create an educational network based on cooperation between the academic world and tourism sector. Ph.D. in Tourism Management aims to contribute to the existing literature on tourism and hospitality by using the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary structure of tourism and to train instructors with doctorate degrees within the framework of the ethical rules. The most distinguishing feature of this program is that it creates an effective leader in the academic field of tourism and educates well-equipped individuals in human relations. Graduates are granted a Ph.D. degree by which they can find job opportunities in universities, educational institutions, techno-parks, and international consultancy companies.
