CIU ranks 1st Islandwide

CIU ranks first in the best global universities rankings in the fields of Economics, Econometrics and Finance

Cyprus International University (CIU) ranked first in Cyprus and 697th  in the world in the fields of Economics, Econometrics and Finance in 2023 in the most comprehensive Research Ranking of worldwide universities and research institutions conducted every year by SCImago Institutions Rankings.

CIU also ranked 2nd  in the Energy, Arts and Humanities category assessed by the same institution.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asil Azimli, from the  CIU Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, stated that SCImago Institutions Rankings evaluates universities based on  16 indicators from 3 dimensions: Acaemic Research and Publications, Innovation and Societal Impact, and their sub-parameters, and noted that SCImago ranks universities according to their success scores, adding that in order to be listed, institutions must fulfill these criteria.

Azimli pointed out that CIU is in the 201-300 band in the field of Accessible and Clean Energy in the world ranking list of Times Higher Education which evaluates and lists institutions within the framework of the "17 Sustainable Development Goals" determined by the United Nations (UN). Dr. Azimli also added that CIU is in the 601-800 band in the field of Health and Well-being. 

Stating that Times Higher Education's Impact Ranking measures the impact of universities on society based on the success of institutions in realizing the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, Azimli emphasized that more than 1,500 institutions from 110 countries and regions have been eligible to be listed in different fields.

Azimli also shared the information that according to the World Economic Forum, the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking is “the first global attempt to document the evidence of the impact of universities on society, rather than research and teaching performance.”
