FAQs About the Post-earthquake Process

CIU students coming from the State of Emergency Zone have been given the right to register late without penalty until March 31st, 2023 for the Spring Semester. We are waiting for the decisions to be taken by the TRNC State Authorities and YÖDAK regarding the education model to be applied to these students.

Our students coming from the State of Emergency Zone, regardless of their current financial obligations, have been given the opportunity to register for 2022-2023 Academic Year Spring term courses.  In addition, they are given the right to freeze their registration free of charge. 

CUI students coming from the State of Emergency Zone have been given the right to register without penalty until March 31st, 2023 of the 2022-2023 Academic Year, Spring Semester.

Instructors will upload all the course materials they use in their Face-to-Face classes to Moodle.

Necessary compensations will be made for our students coming from the State of Emergency Zone to follow their courses, and flexibility will be provided in terms of absenteeism until March 31st, 2023.

Students should contact their Advisors and their Head of Departments regarding their incomplete internships or changing internship locations.

Students without identity cards and passports will be able to travel to the TRNC with a "Temporary Identification Certificate ". It has been announced that earthquake victims who have lost their identity cards can travel to the TRNC with a "Temporary Identification Certificate" for a period of 90 days. In addition, people who lost their passport or other travel documents due to the earthquake will be allowed to enter the TRNC provided that they present a document with a picture that can replace the travel document they can obtain from the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs of the Republic of Turkey.

It has been stated that temporary travel documents have started to be issued at Adana Şakir Paşa Airport, and work is in progress to issue these at Mersin and Taşucu Ports.

However, these documents can be obtained from all offices of the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs of the Republic of Turkey. Detailed information has been published on SIS. 

In line with the statements of our students coming from the State of Emergency Zone regarding their grievances and in accordance with the official documents they will obtain from the state institutions, they will be able to benefit from the discounts that will be applied at certain rates on their education and dormitory fees. For that matter, our students should first explain their grievances by submitting a request over SIS.

Our in-kind donations continue with the support of our students and teams. It is important that the materials you donate are not used, but if they are used, they should be really clean, washed, ironed and folded. In addition, in order to facilitate the work of our teams who help in the compilation and packaging of the materials, we ask you to make a list of the materials you want to donate. Campus Directorate will be accepting your donations. Working hours are from 8 am to 5 pm.

Being aware of the fact that we are all going through a very challenging period, it is important to create a space for sharing while in contact with those who are affected. In addition, we need to maintain our communication with compassion and empathy, without forcing these individuals. Information and support meetings will be held on these issues soon.
