The School of Applied Sciences, at Cyprus International University (CIU), is organizing the “19th European Digital Government Conference”.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tuğberk Kaya, a Faculty Member of the School of Applied Sciences, said that the“19th European Digital Government Conference” will be held on October 24th and 25th, 2019.
Prof. Dr. Kaya stated that academics within the university will take part in the organization committee and the honorary chairman of the conference will be CIU’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri. Furthermore, he will be the chairman of the conference.
He mentioned that Prof. Dr. Mete Yıldız, who work in this field and plays a major role in e-government studies in Turkey, will also take part in the conference.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Kaya stated that procedures are connected to automation and processes are digitized due to the development of technology. In addition, the systems used in public institutions, private companies or educational institutions are constantly being updated.
Kaya said the countries that adapt to digitalization can improve themselves, save time, speed up transactions, provide advantages in terms of transparency and accountability. In the further stages the functioning of both institutions and citizens' participation in decision-making processes such as electronic voting and mobile state can be maximized, he said.
